10 Quotes From the Book We’ve Read Over 50 Times

I can't imagine a man really enjoying a book and reading it only once.

One book we always come back to is The Psychology of Winning by Denis Waitley.

Sometimes we listen, sometimes we read, but in some form or another, we absorb the material at least once per year.

Partly because we enjoy it. But mostly because we know what happens when you re-read.

People think they’re going to read or listen to something one time and change. Like I got what I need, thanks!

I wish it was this easy.

The problem is that the subconscious mind doesn’t work that way.

There are so many things competing for the attention of your subconscious mind. Taylor Swift lyrics make up almost 92% of mine in its entirety and it’s totally unintentional.

It’s only when you listen to something over and over that it manages to cut through the noise and your subconscious realizes “this is important.”

That’s why we’ll never stop reading The Psychology of Winning.

Here are 10 quotes from the book we’ve read over 50 times:

  • “Not aptitude.... attitude is the criterion for success.”

  • “You are either the captain or the captive of your thoughts.”

  • “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”

  • “The price of success is to bear the criticism of envy.”

  • “Get excited and enthusiastic about your own dream. This excitement is like a forest fire – you can smell it, taste it, and see it from a mile away.”

  • “Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.”

  • “Our limitations and success will be based, most often, on your own expectations for ourselves. What the mind dwells upon, the body acts upon.”

  • “Winning is coming in fourth, exhausted and encouraged-because last time you came in fifth.”

  • “Losers make promises they often break. Winners make commitments they always keep.”

  • “Get high on doing good. No one in history has ever found lasting satisfaction in chemicals or possessions. Real pleasure comes from good work, generous deeds and grateful thoughts.”

Something is always brainwashing you - make sure it’s something you want to drive your daily thoughts and actions.

If anyone overhauls All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version), I’m doing my best to make sure it’s Denis.
