The Grammy Awards have been recognizing outstanding achievements in the music industry for 67 years.
Sunday night’s show was one of the more entertaining in recent history, with critics saying there was ”something for everyone.” I tend to agree.
I wouldn’t consider myself a Grammys buff, but what I do know is that I was rarely bored and never appalled which says a lot for an award show in 2025.
If we HAD to pick our top 5 moments, in no particular order, they would be:
Los Angeles Fire Department takes the Red Carpet
Sabrina Carpenter has a huge night and continues to be so likable as our emotional support pop star
Over $7 million is raised during the show for victims of the California wildfires
Kendrick Lamar is not just like us as he’s totally starstruck by Diana Ross
Taylor Swift walks away empty handed but has the time of her life celebrating everyone else - a girl’s girl for the ages
Incredible moments from start to finish. Back to back Grammy Awards where nothing has gone wrong…. or so I thought.
I’ll be honest, I was going to give Trevor Noah his flowers for making it through another year as the show’s host without leaning on sarcasm and derogatory comments towards the celebrities in attendance.
Typically, Noah does an incredible job and viewers leave with nothing to misinterpret or hate him for.
Except I went to find some tweets to support my case and I found that Trevor Noah didn’t actually avoid hot water this year. Some Grammy viewers are upset about 2 specific distasteful jokes.
The comments didn’t even stick out to me because most of his monologues were incredibly complementary and positive. He tried to take a shot twice in the entire show… and it looks like he missed - twice.
He was so close!
I love to joke, I love to laugh, I love to roast AND I still think Trevor did a great job.
The fact of the matter is: you can’t go wrong when you just don’t.
“If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” isn’t outdated advice after all.
Everyone apologize to your moms now.
