Messy by Lola Young is probably breaking records as we speak, because Sofia Ritchie Grainge did a little vibey dance to it once and the Internet did what the Internet does…

The clip now has over 19.2 million views and 2 million likes, making it a viral sensation.

I hear you and I’m getting there.

For Sofia’s 20 million views, there are about 20 million OTHER videos using the viral song. 

What you repeat is you become and it’s not always on purpose. 

This principle is demonstrated perfectly by music on TikTok.

When you scroll TikTok, there are typically 1-3 songs that are “trending” and being used more than the rest. 

2025 is actually insane. 

This is not the first song I’ve heard on TikTok that I wake up one day and know the words to.

HELLO, “caught a vibe… baby are you coming for the ride??”

I didn’t even have to try. That’s brainwashing. And it’s great as long as you use it to your advantage. 

The hard part is getting intentional about listening to books, podcasts and music that are worth internalizing. 

Good rule of thumb: don’t repeat anything that you wouldn’t mind waking up and becoming.
