I’m writing to you from rural New Jersey.
I’m here for Sweet Honey Farm, where we’re hosting a Longevity Retreat for a group of clients.
If the word "longevity" makes you think of a dusty old man who drinks bone broth and takes 72 pills a day, I get it. I prefer those Blue Zone documentaries where it’s a 104 year old lady who says the secret to life is wine and dinner with family. (I so hope she’s right.)
Either way, it’s become clear to me:
Longevity isn’t something you have. It’s something you build.
And when you build it right, it doesn't just extend your years. It improves your days.
So let’s keep it simple.
5 moves you can make this week that truly contribute to your longevity:
#1. Walk like it’s your job. Walking isn’t just for steps on your Apple Watch. It improves your heart health, boosts your brain function, and literally reduces your risk of death. You don’t need a cold plunge or a personal trainer… just put on your shoes and go outside.
#2. Laugh! On purpose! Call the funniest person in your life. Rewatch your favorite stand-up. Send the meme. Laughter lowers cortisol, strengthens immunity, and reconnects you with joy. It is the most underrated health hack we have.
#3. Drink more water. Hydration isn’t revolutionary, but it is foundational. A hydrated body runs better. Your digestion, your skin, your energy… it all improves when you sip instead of scroll.
#4. Go to bed earlier. I know, I know. But the late-night revenge scrolling isn’t making you feel better. Sleep is when your body repairs itself. A body built for long-life living can’t be dinged up because you refuse to watch just one episode at a time.
#5. Talk to someone you love. Connection is a life extender. You don’t need a big heart-to-heart every day, but check in with someone who makes you feel like you. It’s good for your soul and your cells.
That list is almost insulting it’s so easy… and still I will go 6 hours without water and 3 weeks without texting my friends back.
It’s why I’m trying to remember that these aren’t just feel-good moments. They’re strategy.
We’ve got a lot of life left to live. It’s time we take care of ourselves like we plan to be here a while.
