5 must-haves for your website to turn clicks into conversions

from a web design expert

Good design is just good business... 💅🏼

When you have professionally designed branding and website design, you're creating a better quality experience for your potential clients and customers so you can establish credibility and trust.

J. Alexandria Creative designs brands and websites that turn heads and make sales. And all the girls said amen.

How you present your business matters. Let's ensure your presentation is on point.

What if I told you that by doing this ONE thing, you’re preparing your business for long-term growth?

You’re a salesgirl, being prepared for growth is in your DNA, right?

So what’s the one thing?

Creating a website that delivers a beautiful first impression for your business.

Part of Salesgirl Protocol is getting ready everyday. But is your website ready for the world to see? Have you put the time into the appearance and the user experience of your site for your customers?

Need a quick gut check? Here’s a foolproof test.

I call this the Text Test.

Someone texts you asking for your website link. Do you cringe and think “mmm, maybe just go to my Instagram, not my website thankyousomuch!” or do you immediately drop the link feeling excited for a new lead?

That’s how you know if your website is READY or… if it maybe needs a little attention.

So if you’re in the cringe camp, how can we ensure our website is ✨Thriving✨?

Here are 5 must-haves for your website to create a first class experience for your website visitors and ideally turn clicks into conversions…

#1. Clear is Kind

A confused buyer makes no decision, and our website navigation is NOT the place to get cute and clever, friend. We need our navigation to be super clear so we know EXACTLY what page we are going to when we click that link.

If your navigation menu is giving The Cheesecake Factory menu, let’s simplify. Prioritize the most important pages and actions you want someone to take.

#2. Speed is Queen

The ideal page load time for a website is 2 seconds or less. If you have slow site speed, it’s more likely that your site visitor leaves.

Test this is through a speed test with Google Page Speed Insights or if you’re using a site builder like Squarespace, use a site like Pingdom.

The most common reason your site is slow? Your images. Avoid uploading high res images to your site. Aim for your mages to be around 350kb in file size. If you’re uploading your photos from your latest brand shoot right from the gallery, this is going to be too large.

#3. Content that Converts

I’m telling you this because I love you… unless you’re Taylor Swift, you NEED written content on your website. It’s tempting to be minimal with your website copy, but if someone comes to your website that’s never heard of you–like from Google–they need more context to determine if you’re a good fit. Not to mention, if you don’t have enough on-page content, it will be hard to be found on Google in the first place.

One of our clients, Pam, is a photographer and she recently told us that since she launched her new website, 75% of clients who requested to book with her are coming from Google! Even better, a client told Pam “you are EXACTLY who I thought you would be!” when they finally for the first time at their photo session because her website conveyed her personality so well.

That’s the picture we want to see right? Our potential clients immediately connecting with us because of the content on our website?

#4. Optimized for On the Go

Did you know that according to Stanford University, 75% of people based the credibility of a business on how their website looks? Ever gone to a website on your phone and thought, “Oof, I need my laptop for this..”

Instead, let’s prioritize the mobile experience. People are on-the-go and attention is limited. Let’s keep their attention right on your site from mobile so they take fast action.

Can someone take action while waiting for their kids in carpool line? If yes, you’re golden.

#5. Ask for What You Want

If I’ve learned anything from Ashley Brock, it’s “You have not because you ask not.” When it comes to your site, don’t shy away from PLENTY of call to actions.

Biggest mistake I see across sites? Not providing enough opportunities for potential customers to take action. Every page on your website should have an “ask” and a singular primary goal should be reflected throughout your site.

Want them to book a call? Make a purchase? Fill out a contact form? Sprinkle that CTA everywhere. Give an opportunity to say yes at various points on the page because we make decisions as we continue to read and scroll. Have a direct, clear call to action at the bottom of every page. This avoids what we call “dead ends” so you can always connect the user to the next step, next page, or next action.

If you implement these five to thrive, your website is automatically going to be more optimized for a better user experience and what that means to you?

More conversions, salesgirl! That’s what you want right?
