5 Summer Sales Tips (Even If You’re Not Traveling)

Put a quarter in the jar every time someone you know is posting airport selfies with “Out of Office ✌️” as the caption.

I read (saw a tweet) that said why is it that after you turn 25 someone is always in Japan or Italy and why is that so true?!

Even if you’re not traveling this summer, your prospects probably are.

According to the U.S. Travel Association, more than 80% of Americans plan to take a trip this summer.

That’s a lot of poolside scrolling and “I’ll get back to this when I’m home” energy.

This doesn’t mean you stop selling altogether and pick it back up in August.

But it does mean you get strategic, so that you’re the person they actually want to see pop up while they’re sipping a spritz.

5 travel season business tips you can steal today (that we actually use ourselves):

#1. Prep Your Pipeline Before You Pack

Think of your sales pipeline like your fridge before vacation.
You don’t want to come home to an empty shelf (or worse, something expired).

Think:

  • Schedule emails, social posts, or promos to run while you’re gone—or while they’re gone.

  • Pre-write 3–5 follow-ups for any warm leads and set reminders to send them when you return.

#2. Tell Your Audience You’re Away (It’s Good Marketing)

Announcing your time off signals you have boundaries… and suggests that business is good. Clients respect it more than radio silence.

Think:

  • Set an out-of-office autoresponder with a friendly note and links to a free resource, your services page, or your next launch.

  • Just saw a really good reel on this if you need inspo

#3. Automate What You Can

Use this time to let tech carry some of the weight.

Think:

  • Use Calendly or a booking tool to let prospects schedule calls for when you return (or when they’re back).

  • Refresh your welcome emails for new subscribers or customers so you know they’re feeling like a million bucks when they join your list.

#4. Keep a Running Ideas List

Vacations are sneaky breeding grounds for million-dollar ideas—even if you’re only taking an afternoon at the pool.

Think:

  • Keep a note on your phone titled “Beach Brainstorms” and jot down anything that pops up.

  • No pressure to act… just capture.

#5. Decide What “Off” Really Means

Some people want a true unplug. Others feel better checking in once a day. Either is fine, as long as it’s on purpose.

Think:

  • Before you leave (or decide to stay amen), set a simple rule: “I’ll check Slack/emails once in the morning and that’s it,” or “I’m fully unplugged, text me only if something’s on fire.”

  • Tell your team or clients so expectations are clear.

Remember: Whether you’re working poolside or from your kitchen table, this season doesn’t have to stall your business.

Make it easy to be someone your prospects want to hear from… even on vacation.

Safe travels (or productive staycations), girls.
