A Busy Woman's Favorite Breakfast Hack for Gut Health, Hormones, and Energy

I know that’s not the sexiest nutrition headline you’ve ever seen (I’m a realist), but hear me out: you can chill on the protein panic. Even as a nutritionist, I’m giving you full permission to stop obsessing over it.

Because while protein is having a main character moment, fiber is the unsung hero quietly saving your life.

And here’s the kicker: Only 5% of people are getting the minimum amount of fiber they need every day. Five percent!

But when you do get enough? Fiber starts showing off:

  • It keeps your blood sugar steady… so you don’t crash and eat a random sleeve of cookie dough at 10:17am.

  • It fuels your gut so digestion works with you, not against you.

  • It helps balance hormones (hi, less bloating, fatigue, and mood swings).

  • It keeps you full and satisfied so you’re not grazing on your toddler’s snack cup.

  • And yes, it even gives your metabolism a boost.

So where’s the easiest place to start? BREAKFAST.

Here’s what I’ve been blending up on repeat:

A Dietitian’s 5-Minute High-Fiber Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana

  • ½ cup frozen blueberries

  • 2 tbsp peanut butter powder (or real PB if you’re feelin’ fancy)

  • 2 tbsp flax meal

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • ¼ tsp turmeric

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • Unsweetened non-dairy milk to blend

Toss it all in a blender and go.

Starting your day with fiber sets the tone for everything else in your life and your body will absolutely thank you.

Now go be the fiber-fueled queen you were meant to be.
