A Salesgirl Salute to National Girlfriends Day
Let’s get this out of the way first: I did look it up. August 1st is actually National Girlfriends Day.

Frankly, I’ve had trust issues since the 4 National Siblings Days of 2012 and seeing someone’s Memaw on Facebook claiming it was Second Cousin Day.
But this one? We’re claiming it.
Because female friendship is not a fluke. It’s a survival mechanism. It’s the secret to success - in life and in business.
According to a 2022 study published in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, women’s friendships aren’t just emotionally supportive: They’re physically protective.
Women with strong female friendships are less likely to suffer from depression, burnout, or stress-related illness.
In business? Women who have a close circle of other ambitious women are more likely to be promoted, funded, or supported in their pursuits.
(Shoutout to the group chats making million-dollar decisions on a Tuesday.)
But here’s the nuance no one posts about: Female friendship isn’t always loud. It’s not always aesthetic. It’s not always scheduled on a Google Cal.
Sure! Sometimes it’s Thursday night margs with matching necklaces. But, sometimes it’s a 3-month streak of not texting back because you’re in a season of surviving, and she gets it. Sometimes it’s being there on launch day with 17 fire emojis and a “Go off, queen.” Sometimes it’s sending a quick “well check” because you can tell from her cryptic IG story that something’s off.
Female friendship is elastic.
It stretches through heartbreak and nervous breakdowns. Through career pivots and family drama. Through your self-discovery era and your “please don’t discover me, I’m tired” era.
And it holds.

So if you’re the kind of woman who:
Screams “YOU’RE DOING AMAZING SWEETIE” from the comments
Mentions her name in rooms she’s not in
Shares a lead, a DM, or a contact because we all eat here
You deserve to be celebrated. Happy (early) National Girlfriends Day.
Call her. Text her. Tag her. Thank her.
And if your circle feels small right now, don’t forget: you’ve got us. Right here.
Xo, The Salesgirls
