Your Appearance DOES Matter

Just not how you may think...

An 8 year old boy is changing the world and he’s starting in rural Maine.

James Ramage woke up and chose violence style when decided to wear a suit and tie to his 3rd grade class at Chelsea Elementary.

The special occasion?

There wasn’t one… unless you consider Wednesdays to be noteworthy.

And starting now… I do.

In a hallway filled with Spiderman and sweats, it didn’t take much time for James to start turning heads.

I could’ve chosen a clearer photo but this green 3-piece is absolutely electric

CBS News reported that James’ classmates “didn’t know what to think at first.”

Until more people started breaking out their Sunday best.

And now the entire school takes part in what they call Dapper Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, students wait on the bus in suits, ties, fedoras, fancy dresses, and pearls. Nothing is off limits or too formal.

Don’t have much fancy in your closet? No problem. The school has started accepting donations to make sure that anyone who wants to participate, can.

The school is backing this movement 100%, and why wouldn’t they?! Teachers are seeing a distinct change in the kids’ behavior when they’re all gussied up for Dapper Wednesday.

(Formal request for someone to see if grades are improved on these days because I have a sneaky suspicion…….)

Being dressed up, kids are different. I think it's a self-esteem thing.  And then it carries with them all the way through the day.

I can’t help but think that I would’ve been better at long division while wearing a blazer.

Do Salesgirls love an Anthropologie haul? Yes.

Would we risk it all for vintage Chanel? There is a chance.

Are my favorite earrings right now $12 on Amazon and will they turn your flesh green if you even look at water while wearing them? Definitely.

It’s not about what you wear, it’s how you feel when you wear it.

I know I act a little different when my outfit is serving and I feel good whether it’s high-end, 10 years old or thrifted - what about you?

James said it best… “every kid doesn’t have to wear a suit. Just whatever suits them.”

The kids are alright.

Shoutout to Katie H. who sent us this article over the weekend! Have something you want us to write about or just want to leave a note? You can always reply to these emails. In fact, there’s few things we love more.
