The Christmas New Years Vortex

and how to keep moving the needle and defeat it once and for all

You played host. You played Santa. You played guest. You played games. You nailed it, Salesgirl.

And please don’t shoot the messenger because I know we’re all fragile right now, but today is when the work really starts.

The week between Christmas and New Years is 100% a vortex and by Thursday there’s a chance you will not remember what you do for a living. Will you even know it’s Thursday? Your name? Age?

I’m not sure. All I know is that it’s a spiral and we’re all on it together.

As a peace offering for suggesting you do anything other than rot in your bed (I got a lot of nerve, I know), I’d like to propose a few things that you can do to get your hearts and minds ready for the new year while we live in the Twilight Zone over the next 7 days.

Best of all, knowing the day of the week is not required to take advantage of this proposal. Thank God, because I thought today was Saturday.

Now listen, if you’ve decided that you’re becoming one with the couch this week and you’re good with it: Godspeed. I’m truly so happy for you. My only request is that you report back with all the good shows and movies you watch.

If you aren’t quite sold on the idea of doing absolutely nothing, but you know you need a little re-set and re-charge. We have good news.

Working hard does not equal productivity. And please, whatever you do, don’t mistake activity for productivity.

What people think moves the needle in life and business:

  • Posting on stories

  • Creating all the content

  • Organizing your project calendar

Maybe.

What also moves the needle in your life and business:

  • Reading

  • Quiet time

  • Watching a movie with your toddler

These are the things that may feel so painfully un-important right now, but they really are the most important things you can do to grow yourself and, in turn, your business or career.

Starting today, I’m challenging you to pick 3-5 tasks that you know will move the needle in your life. It can be getting dressed, it can be going for a walk, it can be throwing your phone off the porch. If you’re anything like me, it probably needs to be getting rid of the cardboard box shrine on the garage.

When you create or maintain even a SLIVER momentum, not only can you feel really good about yourself at the end of the day when it’s time to watch My Life with the Walter Boys, but you make the absolute most of the final week of the year.

Winning in 2024 begins with moving forward in the Christmas New Years Vortex.

In it with you.

Xo, The Salesgirls

One thing we’re doing to create momentum this week?

Getting our tickets to the Marketing Matters Summit hosted by Ashley Brock.
