Clarity Over Chaos: A Sales Copy PSA
Have you ever seen an ad or heard a sales pitch and thought to yourself, yikes…
Because I do. Every day.
Like a musician who hears a song on the radio and can’t help but analyze the melody or lyrics, that is me with copywriting in the wild.
I see a billboard or hear a radio ad or watch a commercial on tv and all I can think about is how I would have said or written it differently.
The other day, I received this flyer in the mail. I couldn’t stop staring at it for literally so many reasons.

I almost contacted Bobby myself through one of the 187 different communication options just to speak with his marketing guy (this is clearly the work of a man), because I have questions. I have concerns. I have opinions. I have solutions.
The amount of copy on this mailer might send me into an actual coma the more I look at it.
He is asking me to call him about selling my house, text him at two different numbers, email him, and enter to win a 2003 (!!!) yellow Mustang convertible, AND subscribe to his YouTube channel.
Bobby, there’s only 24 hours in the day and I need half a day just to read and comprehend this thing.
When you don’t know what to write for your ads, keep it simple.
Great sales copy doesn’t try to say everything.
It says the right thing.
At the right time.
To the right person.
When it comes to writing copy, you need clarity, confidence, and a little breathing room.
One clear offer. One clear call to action. One less yellow Mustang, please for the love.
