If you’re anything like me, I get caught up in the false narrative that I’m behind in life because I haven’t achieved anything “big” in my career. 

Blame it on the constant social media highlight reels, societal pressures, perfectionism, blah, blah blah.

But then I scroll across this post and it help me put my life, my success, and that timeline bullshi*t we all believe into perspective.

At 39, Toni Morrison hadn’t published a single book. 

At 40, she became a novelist and later won the Nobel Peace Prize. 

At 32, Ava DuVernay had never directed a feature film. 

At 40, she became the first Black woman to win Best Director at Sundance. 

At 30, Robin Arzón was a corporate lawyer.

At 31, she pivoted and became the face of Peloton. 

At 40, Kendra Scott had just $500 and a dream. 

At 42, she built a billion-dollar jewelry brand. 

At 34, Shonda Rhimes was pitching tv pilots. 

At 36, Grey’s Anatomy aired and reshaped primetime television. 

At 38, Joanna Gaines was running a small home store in Waco.

At 40, she became a household name on national tv.

At 38, Kris Jenner was a stay-at-home mom. 

At 52, she rebranded her family and built a media dynasty. 

As I read each one of these success stories, I was filled with more and more hope that I’m still in the process of writing my own.

If you also feel like you’re too old, too behind, too tired to keep going, just remember that it’s never too late to chase after what you want to be in life. 

I’m 33 today, but at 53 I could be a New York Times best-selling author ???
