It's giving thanks

One thing about my husband is he’s not gonna take the easy way out. 

 We aren’t asking for directions. 

We aren’t hiring a professional to get the leaves off our very high and very steep roof. 

We aren’t going to use 1 pan to make dinner when we could use 14. 

We are for sure going to build that thing that we need ourselves. 

Do y’all know people like that? Determined to make it hard, even when the easier way is like…. Clearly (to me) the best option. 

In some aspects of life, this mindset is awesome. Especially in a senior yearbook quote. SOOOO admirable. That guy or gal is going places, quoting Robert Frost like that.

But I really believe that sometimes you should just take the way that is paved. It’s not that serious.

Honey, we don’t need to walk through this brush with a machete, there is quite literally a path right here.

Because he is who he is and I love him so much, he made homemade cranberry sauce for our family Thanksgiving the first year we were married. 

 I know y’all see where I’m going with this…..

It was fine. Looked really pretty. But Ocean Spray canned cranberry sauce is better.

I don’t know why, but it seems like it’s probably science because nearly 75% of Americans said the same thing.

We, as a society, prefer the jello-esque giggly sphere over my sweet, sweet husband’s fresh cranberry compote. He even added orange zest. I’ll never forget it. That’s the last time our zester saw the light of day.

 What I need y’all to know is that sometimes we’re making it harder than it needs to be. I want you to remember that when you look at the little weird canned lines on the cranberry sauce this afternoon. 

May canned cran supremacy be our yearly reminder to keep things simple. Sometimes it really is just that easy.
