Remember back to the first time you used goggles as a kid. All of the sudden underwater became a ✨whole new world ✨. All of the sudden YOU COULD SEE.

You knew how dirty or clean the pool was, you could find your mom’s earring that dropped to the bottom of the pool, and you could play tea party and actually see your friends.

Are you reminiscing of the “good ole days” yet?

Now we’re going to take those goggles and put them on to view the world for the purpose of content.

Social media feels interesting for a lot of business owners. For many of us, it doesn’t come naturally and yet you need it to grow your business.

There is a way though you can lighten the social media burden with one simple idea: putting on your content goggles.

You’ve probably heard the term “everything is content” and while that can be true, is “everything” going to move the needle in your business? The beautiful thing about having content goggles is you can remove them when they start to leave marks on your face (too literal?).

Here are 3 good opportunities to put on your content goggles to take notes or whip out your camera:

  1. At an in person event. In a world where everything is virtual, in person events get attention. I’m not saying you should live stream the whole thing like a Taylor Swift concert on TikTok, but a few 10-15 second clips could go a long way. You’ll have hard evidence to share a takeaway or something you learned at a conference, mastermind, local business gathering, or retreat.

  2. When you’re doing the work that makes you money. They say practice what you preach, and filming yourself working at your computer, in a coaching call, or with a client can skyrocket your credibility.

  3. As you’re getting ready for something. People love being invited into the journey and especially love a get ready with me. These are a great candid way to share what you’re learning, how you prep for your work, or answer questions from your audience. (Editing tip: if you don’t want to film yourself talking, shoot some B-Roll style video and throw a voiceover on it later, sometimes those are even more powerful anyway!)

So no, everything is not content.

The key to being successful at content is doing it in a way that is sustainable to you.

Don’t want to film your kid’s baseball game for the internet? Don’t.

Don’t want to share what’s for dinner? Keep the content goggles off.

They’ll be ready for you the next time you’re in the zone.
