I'm Delusional... and you should be too

Us in the company group chat responding to something that is realistically not easy at all…

Is being a little bit delusional our greatest weakness or greatest strength? Let’s talk about it.

Now this may be controversial, but I’m planting my flag in the ground: the most successful people in the world are a lil delulu.

(I saw Gen Z call it that and immediately followed suit, please let me have this.)

Before you roast me and say no no no REALISTIC is the only way… this is toxic… etc etc etc - let’s look at the science for a second.

Studies have shown that people who overestimate their skills, abilities, and talents ultimately perform at a higher level than those that have more realistic thoughts about succeeding at any given thing.

Simply put: those that overestimate their abilities (ahem, some would say delulu) are more successful.

It's surprising and also not at all. If you don’t think you’re good at something (whether you actually are or not), you’re going to be less motivated to do it or take any action steps at all towards it. It's not going to work out, right? So, why would you?

On the other freshly manicured hand, if you expect the best, you’re going to jump in and take action because honestly you’re too crazy to think you can’t do something.

With high expectations - even DELUSION-ALLY high expectations - you’re greatly enhancing your odds of success.

The case study: Travis "Delulu King" Kelce thinking he could just give Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at her concert... that is insane, Trav. She has more security than the POTUS. Literally why would you make that it will never work and nothing will ever come from it. Save your time.

Well. He

was laughing at the haters from locked lips in Argentina on Saturday night.

Some say he’s now the king of manifestation, but I say he’s perfectly delusional.

And we should be too.

Ps. If you want the whole story on how Travis landed Taylor by being fully delusional, you can read up on it HERE or just comment and we'll talk about it all day together.
