Life should be uncomfortable - jeans should not

“Where the labor is great, the gain is all the more.”

Now we say “no pain, no gain” but as a literary girlie, I kind of wish we had kept St. Ignatius’ version.

3 reasons to embrace the burn:

#1. The absence of discomfort makes us complacent.

I almost wrote ‘lazy’ instead of complacent. It seemed aggressive, but where is the lie? Being comfortable for too long is overrated and honestly dangerous. Seek out opportunities to be reasonably uncomfortable. And the reason I say that is…

#2. Discomfort acts as a catalyst for growth.

Oh, you thought you could just start working out and get snatched without not being able to walk to the bathroom a time or 3? Think again. A strength coach I had used to say “if you’re waddling, that means it’s working.” I get it now. Because…

#3. Discomfort is a sign of progress.

If you’ve ever looked at yourself in a progress picture of any kind then you know how good it feels to see your arms get more toned, the dark spots on your face get lighter, your hair get longer, even the tiniest amount of visible evidence that you’re getting closer to a goal is enough to sustain a human to keep going.

You can and should experience frequent discomfort in life.

You don’t have to and shouldn’t wear uncomfortable jeans.

Here are some of our favorite brands:

Learning Khloe Kardashian is the designer behind my favorite and most comfortable jean brand was shocking to say the least but now I’m more sure than ever that she’s a girl’s girl. She was looking out for us all.

Abercrombie & Fitch - ULTRA HIGH RISE 90s STRAIGHT JEAN

I fought it for awhile because, like most millennials, A&F and I have seen each other before many years ago. I don’t know who took over and started making things for people with thighs but I have to admit I’m thankful.

A wide leg with a fringe hem?? In this economy?? Absolutely. Looks like I could accidentally “relax” in these jeans like men do. Joking, not even the most comfortable jeans could lay on the couch with me. Y’all know men that do that too though, right? Calling 911.

Listen, if Old Navy is anything they are consistent. You always know what you’re getting. It’s just a bonus that they seem to be running a sale quit literally all of the time. Fine by us. We aren’t getting sales advice from them, but we are getting these $20 cuties. For that price, if you wear them 3 times they were actually free. I don’t make the rules.

Cheers to knowing where to embrace discomfort and where not to in 2024.
