How to close the Capability Gap and get closer to your full capacity
Yesterday’s newsletter stirred you guys up little. I got a several insightful responses. To which I always kick my feet and giggle while reading, so keep them coming. Many of you shared that it was your favorite edition yet.
ICYMI: catch up in 5 minutes HERE
A note from Jenny, Salesgirl Social subscriber from Georgia, said “I think today’s was my favorite. Tell me more about closing the gap!”
One thing I will not do is leave a salesgirl hanging.
Closing the gap…
Leaving our current level of delivery in pursuit of our full capability…
Departing from Point A to get closer to Point B….
Closing the gap.
I would give you the 3 steps to success, except it’s even more simple than that.
There aren’t 3 things you need to be... There’s 1.
You close the gap with consistency.
DO NOT SHOOT THE MESSENGER.
I feel like my husband right now when I’m freaking out and he tells me to ~*just calm down*~
Like ok king I will definitely consider it? Why didn’t I think of that? Don’t speak to me.
It’s so obvious and overused and logical and I know you don’t want to hear it but it’s true.
Please remember that knowing is not the same as doing. We all know it. But are we doing it? Honesty hour.
Extraordinary results are a matter of repeating ordinary actions over a long period of time.
Consistency isn’t sexy until it is.
I don’t know what your Point A and Point B are. Depending on those, there may be some specific actions you can take consistently to close YOUR Capability Gap. But there are some more general actions that I’m willing to bet could have us all on the heels of our full capacity if done consistently.
Things like: reading, exercising, getting ready, writing
If you’re thinking, “please, I’m doing what I need to do AND if one of those Super Mario stars that took me up to hyper speed was offered I would definitely take it…”
Boy do I have a treat or 3 for you.
Consistency pairs well with bursts of intensity. A challenge, an event, a training program…

Keep chopping. Refine your form. Test some different angles. Chop more. And when someone comes along and offers to sharpen your axe… take them up on it.
Closing the gap together.
