Proof That the Details Do Matter (Thanks, Spanx)
We got the best email from a Salesgirl Social reader this week, and I knew we had to share it. (Hey Daniele, ILY!)
It’s a story about Spanx, a dream pair of long-lost shorts, and what it feels like to be truly heard by a brand… even when you expect a “Thanks for reaching out 😐” auto-reply.
Here’s what Daniele’s email said:
I know we’re all team Sara Blakely + Spanx, and had to share this story of how the details make a difference.
I sent an email to their team about some shorts they carried a few years ago. They were the best.summer.short. They could go from beach to date night. I was hopeful that hearing my plea might make them consider adding them back to the line soon. Tomorrow preferably.
I got a quick reply. I opened it expecting a canned response of “someone from our team will get back to you soon,” something that covers all customer service emails. But what I got was perfection. It may have been AI perfection, but it made me feel actually heard. The detail from my original email in their response was textbook Salesgirl.
I thought you may enjoy this :)
We did. Especially because… here’s the actual reply she got from Spanx:

Even if you’re about to delete the email and head to lunch - pause. A few extra seconds to acknowledge the real human on the other end can turn a throwaway reply into a brand story someone tells a newsletter that goes to women’s inboxes worldwide.
When people feel heard, they remember. And they come back.
Here’s Sara marketing the short on Instagram 200 weeks ago that Daniele worm-holed and found for us. Everyone say: “thank you Daniele.”
Consider this your gentle nudge: if something makes you laugh, cry, gasp, or go ugh that’s so Salesgirl-coded… send it to us. We read every word.
