The newly emerged Queen of Pop kicked off her world tour last week.

After serving us bops like Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste all summer, I know Sabrina Carpenter has to be tired.

But if she is, she’s not showing it.

The entire Short N Sweet Show looks like must-see entertainment.

From the TV Land intro, to the Polly Pocket set, to the personality-filled outro that gives you no choice but to love her…

(No, I haven’t been but TikTok grainy live streams have never let me down.)

All of that, and still there’s just one thing from the show programming that made me gasp.

Each night, Sabrina will play Spin the Bottle on stage.

Instead of a suitor waiting to pucker up, the bottle will point to an iconic and on-brand song she’ll cover for the crowd

Opening night the Spin the Bottle song was Mamma Mia by ABBA.

The place went wild.

I wished I was there. I wondered what the other covers could be. I realized I wanted to go just for this surprise segment of the show. I realized that if I went and didn’t get Mamma Mia, I would want to go back again.

Then maybe again….

And again….

Sabrina has not only put together an iconic and entertaining show for her fans, she has perfectly included the element of surprise into her big event

I think I’ve seen this film before…

Could it be that she was an opener on the Eras Tour and long-time super fan of our Queen of Unpredictable Excellence, Taylor Swift?

I wanna yap with them soooooo bad

Below is an excerpt where we broke down how Tay does something similar in her shows on April 18th of this year. It’s almost like they’re doing this on purpose….

Taylor Swift has built an insane army of fans who adore her and, more impressively, show up to everything again and again, time after time because she is TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE IN EVERY WAY EXCEPT ONE….

Taylor Swift is predictably excellent.

We don’t know WHAT she’s going to do… but boy, do we know that it’ll be good.

By delivering over and over again, she has proven that it’s who she is.

One of her strongest pieces of evidence for the strategy of staying unpredictable is #SurpriseSongOclock. The time at each show in The Eras Tour when Taylor chooses two surprise songs from her discography to perform for the crowd. The surprise songs change every night.

You’ve been dying to hear Teardrops on My Guitar live but she didn’t play it in Atlanta? Buy a ticket to Miami and you may have another shot.

“But what if she runs out of songs?” People started asking the question. And the moment it started to get a little bit predictable, as fans kept track of which songs remained unplayed, she started playing mash-ups.

Two songs mashed together in a totally unique sound and way that they’ve never been heard before.

CRAP. I need to go AGAIN to see THAT!

Over and over, she surprises and re-engages. She delivers and keeps us guessing. Everything, all at once.

Totally unpredictable, but always and predictably excellent

If your role or industry allows for suspenseful excellence, I’m encouraging us all to find a way to incorporate it. And if it doesn’t, I hope your favorite music artist reads this.

It seems Sabrina learned from the best - may we, too.
