The One Where My Business Coach Told Me to Scrap Everything...
and the event was already on the calendar...
Fancy seeing you here on a… Friday?!
Rest assured, I would only get special permission to write to YOU - Salesgirl Social subscribers - on a Friday if it was veryyyy important.
It’s very important.
I wanted to share with you 3 things I learned from my $150k coach, PLUS an exclusive invitation to something grool...
You guys remember hating being told to line up for sprints at basketball practice and have your coach insist you go faster while they stand around and blow the whistle?
Yeah, same and now I pay someone a lot of money to (lovingly) do that, but instead of sprints it’s business. 😂
A coach shouldn’t beat around the bush - and mine doesn’t.
She offers tough love, which is wayyyy different than the "fluff love" (as I like to call it).
Fluff love = saying something is good when it's not because they don't know how to tell you how they really feel.
vs
Tough love = saying something isn't good when it isn't good.
We all need that person in our lives, right?
Especially when it's someone who is wise, trustworthy, and someone you respect.
Have you ever worked so hard on something for so long... and you get reeeealllly proud of it... and then you go to show someone else and they're like,"I love you AND that's not it."
Yeah, that's what Macy told me across from the conference table 2 weeks ago.
She wasn’t talking about a font or a color or a reel cover… she was talking about my business.
Not the entire business, but a lot of my messaging.
One of the objectives of this specific meeting with my coaches was for them to review the (very detailed and set!!!) plans for my biggest event of the year.
The Marketing Matters™ Summit was already on the calendar for January 14-16, 2025...
It includes messaging, speaker outlines, timeline... alllll the insider things.
We changed nearly everything... and right when I thought we were done… Macy broke it to me.
The Marketing Matters™ Summit isn't happening.....
I didn’t look this cool TRUST
Here's why it’s not happening...
You know how after birth, babies grow and mature over time?
So does your business, your ads strategy, your messaging... and mine, too...
That's why the Power of Paid Ads Summit is happening instead. ⚡️
Here's what shifted inside that meeting that led me to changing my mind*... AND WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS.
*Sure, Macy told me it wasn’t right, but I really didn’t have to listen. And if I HAD changed everything, JUST because she TOLD me to and not because I didn’t believe it to my core: it wouldn’t work anyways.
#1. WORDS MATTER. Every single word you say matters. Your new best friend should be the dictionary. I am so serious. It will literally change your life. The more I look up what words actually mean vs what I think they actually mean I get more and more clear on what words I will use or will no longer use when I speak or type. The name of your offer, the caption of your ad, the headline on your website. EVERY. WORD. MATTERS.
#2. Understate don't overstate. Marketing is an overstatement. Marketing = promoting your product or service. That means in-person events, billboards in Times Square, Spotify Ads, direct mail in your mailbox... it's anything and everything. I'm an expert in Paid Ads and many marketing strategies, but not all of them. Remember this: when you overstate, you leave no room to delight your customers with more, because they expect more from the beginning, vs being delighted by more in the end.
#3. Be willing to be throttled, not coddled. If you were at the summit last year, you have heard the story of how we sold $157k that day. My messaging was unclear, my sales skills were fresh off the boat, and The Salesgirls will tell you I did about 74689 things wrong... and yet I had a $157k day. What this means for you is you can learn WHILE YOU EARN. You do not have to be perfect, but you do have to be willing to get uncomfortable. But you simply cannot do that when you prefer to be coddled rather than throttled. Macy always says, "You know I love you right, Ash?" because she will tell me like it is - and I love every second of it. You can't change if you're not challenged, period.
That is why we changed the name of the event.
That is why I want to invite you to the event.
I want to invite you into a room where you will get challenged to think differently about paid ads... because there's so much power in being a Salesgirl... AND there's also power in being a Salesgirl your ideal clients can find.
The Salesgirls and I will be at the Power of Paid Ads Summit Jan 14th-16th, and for the next 48 hours, you'll get the best price that we'll offer (yes, better than Black Friday and Cyber Monday)... because Salesgirls take care of Salesgirls, right?
XOXO,
Your Favorite Paid Ads Coach, Ashley
