The Real MVPs of Super Bowl LIX
Meet the Women Who Made It Happen
The Super Bowl is over, and while the Eagles are out popping champagne (finally!), we’re here celebrating some real MVPs—the women who made this game what it was.
Sure, the game was exciting… even if a bit one-sided. Whatever that was in the crockpot with cream cheese was delicious. The commercials were… a mixed bag (I’m on the edge of my seat for Social’s marketing editor’s full recap - no pressure, Nicole). And Kendrick Lamar gave us a halftime show that reminded us all how painfully old we’ve gotten.
But none of it could happen without LOADS of women who didn’t get much TV time… We’re highlighting five of the women and we’re thankful for all of them.
5 Women Who Made Super Bowl LIX:
1. Queen Tahj (Tahj Williams) – The Artist Behind the Super Bowl Logo
Super Bowl branding has never looked this good. New Orleans artist Queen Tahj became the first person ever to handcraft a Super Bowl logo and theme art, blending traditional Black Masking culture with intricate beadwork. I fell victim to the beautiful rabbit hole that is Tahj’s Instagram and I can confirm: her designs are actual masterpieces.
2. Ledisi – The Voice That Gave Us Chills
Before kickoff, Ledisi, a Grammy-winning powerhouse, delivered a stunning performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing. Her blend of R&B, jazz, and gospel had me peeking into the living room during the kids’ bath time to see WHO was popping off on national television. This bath time will be the new litmus test for if something is attention-getting-ly good.
3. Stephanie Nogueras – Making the Super Bowl Louder
For the first time in Super Bowl history, Stephanie Nogueras provided ASL interpretation for the pre-game performances, ensuring that deaf and hard-of-hearing fans didn’t miss a single moment. Her presence was a game-changer for accessibility in sports and I would very much like to give her a hug.
4. Kylie Kelce – The Most Relatable Person in the Suite
While Jason Kelce continued his reign as America’s favorite shirtless dad, Kylie Kelce proved yet again why she’s the real GOAT. After spending Super Bowl weekend at Disney with her daughters, she showed up to the game, casually stealing the show and our hearts without even trying.
5. Tamela Davis – Using the Super Bowl for Something Bigger
While most of us were planning our snack spread, Tamela Davis and her husband, Saints linebacker Demario Davis, were focused on something we can all get behind: fighting human trafficking. They co-hosted Super Bowl LIX Night of Freedom, proving that the biggest stage in sports can also be a platform for real change.
If you wanted to see a real barn-burner of a football game, you’ll need to wait till next year. But women-winning-by-a-million remains undefeated.
And that’s something worth cheering for.
Tomorrow’s official Super Bowl Commercial recap is our last email about the National Football League until September at the earliest. You are welcome.
