I’m tired of being influenced.
What I want is to be more inspired.
I really do not need a new skincare routine, the latest and greatest water bottle, or the coziest name brand workout set.
I find myself unfollowing influencers that are paid to sell me the same products and instead, following girls who are living lives and doing work that inspires me to be more creative.
Where I’m finding my inspiration lately is from the creator who is solely focused on adding more whimsy to her life. And the nature account that educates me on how to nurture the earth around me. And the writer who has a small Substack audience that makes me want to write more for pleasure.
The more I replace my feed with creators who are living authentically and then posting, as opposed to living a curated life just to have something to post about, the more inspired I am to put my phone down and live a life that feels whole to me.
I would encourage you to ask yourself if the content you’re (over)consuming on the daily is enhancing your life or leaving you feeling like you’re not enough.
I always say everything in moderation.
Too much of anything can be a bad thing. Especially when it comes to cultural trends.
We don’t all need to look like carbon copies of each other. How boring.
I’m on my own path of seeking inspiration over influence, creativity in the world around me, and unfollowing anyone or anything that makes me feel inferior.
And I give you permission to do the same – whatever that looks like for you.
