Time Catches Up for Caitlin Clark

the all-time scoring record was broken way before this weekend

If there’s one thing we love more than general excellence and winning, it’s when a woman is the one doing it.

Caitlin Clark, basketball phenom at the University of Iowa, broke the record for the most points scored in NCAA Division I history, a record that was set over 5 decades ago and one many predicted would never be broken

Nike marketing never sleeps and we are all thankful 🔥

I love that the game doesn’t know what records are supposed to broken and which ones aren’t.

That’s not just basketball, you know.

Caitlin’s mastery of the game and, more specifically, her ability to shoot from insanely long range, has changed women’s basketball.

  • Viewership of the sport as a whole is up 103%.

  • Iowa has sold out 30 of their 32 home games.

  • Ticket prices are averaging $250 to get in the door… for comparison, you can get into most Division I women’s basketball games for more like $15.

  • Stars like Jason Sudeikis, Ashton Kutcher and Travis Scott are lining the front row of games.

Sports news outlets are calling the effect, ‘Clarkenomics.’

Anyone that good at anything begs the question, “HOW?”

Surely she was born with it????

The drive to be the best? Maybe. The skill? Absolutely not.

In 2018, she was cut from Team USA as a high school junior.

That was just 6 years ago???? I have things in my closet that I haven’t worn in 6 years and she literally went on a full revenge tour and became the most prolific scorer in college basketball history in that amount of time?

idk if i’m inspired or sick

But, that “HOW?” became an “OHHHHHH” when Caitlin’s off-season workout hit social media last year.

  • 100 3-point shots

  • 100 mid-range shots

  • 100 free throw attempts

  • All at game-speed

The shooting is all in addition to standard conditioning and fundamental work. 300 shots per day, tracking makes and misses.

My arms physically ache after blow drying my hair. Don’t even mention a french braid.

I simply would not have arms after 1 day of this workout that she completes EVERY DAY, each summer. Perfecting her craft.

What happened yesterday in the record breaking game was just time catching up to Caitlin.

How do you become the best at shooting a basketball? You shoot a basketball.

How do you become the best at building funnels? You build funnels.

How do you become the best at decorating cakes? You decorate cakes.

How do you become the best at sales calls? You take sales calls.

How do you become a better writer? You write.

Put in the work and know that time will catch up.

Congrats to Caitlin Clark for (officially) being the best to ever do it.

Xo, The Salesgirls

Ps. I can’t just NOT mention Caitlin’s mom’s jacket.
