Pop Culture Editor, Olivia, had the very important assignment of watching the talk of the town, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives so that we don’t have to… unless of course we want to

Is it business-owner-who-also-enjoys-TV recommended? Let’s see.

A Business Owner’s Official Review of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

Now I am not willing to say this show is “good,” but I flew through those 8 episodes. This show brought me right back to my days watching Laguna Beach and the OC.

Here are the business lessons I took away from Season 1:

#1. Having a supportive partner or community makes life 10x easier.

I wanted to drop-kick Dakota and Zach so many times I ran out of fingers to count. Relationship dynamics can change when the woman becomes the breadwinner (you go girl!), but open and honest communication is the only way to get through any uncomfortableness.

If your partner is struggling, I think it is 100% appropriate to suggest they find someone to discuss with- a friend, mentor or professional while you keep rocking to the top.

#2. Collaborating with other creators drives up engagement and reach.

I love that their content is all about supporting MomTok as a whole, AND each other’s individual pages, partnerships and brands. From what I saw on the show none of the drama centered around jealousy for likes or followers- they all knew the more they supported each other the more their business grew as a whole.

A rising tide lift all ships!

#3. Controversy drives engagement.

No, I am not suggesting a “soft-swinging” scandal 🙅‍♀️ but I do think sharing some “unpopular” opinions on your stories can most definitely up your engagement and get your followers talking.

Just know you will get opinions, but you will get people talking.

  1. Is the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives trashy? Or a masterclass is modern social media marketing?

  2. Are Trayvis a PR couple or end game?

  3. Sabrina Carpenter using her love triangle with Camillo Cabello and Shawn Mendes to get people talking about her new album- thoughts?

#4. Being mean is never a good look.

No notes. Mean girls are OUT.

I am looking at you, Whitney!

So, should you watch?

If you like reality TV, Rotten Tomato scores clearly don’t matter to you, and you’ll probably enjoy this.

Can you live happily having never seen it? Absolutely.

This is the perfect show to have in the background while eating lunch, folding laundry or when you need to turn your brain off.

Enjoy, or don’t!
