3 Tips for Qualifying Well as a Woman in Business

remember: everyone is disqualified until you qualify them

Lip gloss?  Check.

Gum? Check.

ID? Check.

Bank statement showing over $50,000? Wait what…

A New York City nightclub will now require customers to show a bank account of $50,000+ before they can get in the door.

I want to laugh? I want to cry? I want to ask questions?

I don’t know much about club culture

In fact, they would actually need to pay ME $50,000 to go to a night club, but that’s neither here nor there.

What I do understand is a business owner’s desire to attract a very specific kind of client.

Albeit, this club owner’s move is an interesting way to ensure she reaches her ideal client, that is what she’s doing. I don’t have to interview her to know that.

You can spin it and dress it up 50 different ways, but at its core, it’s called qualifying

Qualifying simply means that you determine, through conversation usually, that they have the right “qualities” to buy from you or to work with you.

In this case, they’re using bank statements to qualify club-goers.

Interesting? Absolutely. Kinda weird? For sure. Necessary? Hard to say.

We won’t criticize business decisions around here, except Wendy’s and the surge pricing model. We did criticize that and we stand by it at this time

But qualifying is a necessary part of selling. And selling is a necessary part of business.

How you do it is entirely up to you based on the person you want to attract.

In the online business industry, here are the 3 big things we look for in qualifying prospects:

#1. Price

Can they actually afford to work with you? If they can’t, they may not be a good fit right now and that’s totally fine. Onward, girls.

#2. Product

Can the service that you offer genuinely help them? Do you know their needs and ideal outcomes? Before proclaiming that you have what they need and they’d be a really great fit- make sure that you really can and they really would.

#3. Relationship

Are y’all reallllly vibing or is she just the first person to message you in 3 weeks? If the vibes are right, make sure they don’t have someone in their life with a stronger relationship who they’ll be likely to work with. Then it’s all systems go!

Remember: everyone is disqualified until you qualify them!

Everyone walking down 5th Avenue doesn’t want to work with you, and (more importantly) you don’t want to work with everyone walking down 5th Avenue.

Your challenge is to go into each interaction with ZERO expectation of what you’ll get from them and be free to truly find out if you can serve them.

 Pro qualifying tip!

If you’re launching during an event (webinar, masterclass, challenge, etc.), be explicit with your title. Making sure as many of the right people show up as possible will save you time and make you money.

Is there a chance that the club’s qualifying tactic of $50k bank statement at entry will leave the club empty and she has to go back to the drawing board? Absolutely!

Is there a chance that the right people are lined up and it’s packed full of Daddy-Warbucks-rich men every weekend and all her dreams come true? Yep!

Honestly, we kinda respect her for having the guts to try.

It’s all part of the game and we’re playing it with you.
