The Humbling Return of the Business Card

A follow up from a previous article

A few months ago I wrote to the Salesgirls via this newsletter asking about the state of business cards

I had no idea it would be such a hot topic. Courtney forwarded tens upon tens of replies from you all about if you use them, how you use them, and your philosophies about why they work.

The overall consensus from those responses led me to believe a couple of things:

  1. Business cards are not out of style.

  2. Apparently digital business cards are all the rage.

  3. QR codes are the new IT girls when it comes to connecting IRL.

  4. I need to get on board.

I’m going to be honest, ever since I learned all of this I have yet to get new cards made.

But I recently found myself at a creative networking meetup in my new city and you’ll never guess that I walked away with 3 (!!) business cards.

Sadly, not a single person left with my information, only fond memories of my glowing personality and a promise to connect on LinkedIn.

So, I’m here to let you all know that you were right about those little paper things, they do have a purpose other than collecting my gum.

As soon as I get done writing this newsletter I’m headed over to Canva and telling her to paint me like one of her french girls but in a professional way complete with my email, website, and social security number. That is the information that goes on a business card, right?

If you ever happen to see me in the wild and inquire about my business card, maybe ask for my email instead.
